About me

Hi!

I'm a UCL European Studies student in my second year. I study French and Spanish and have done for over 5 years now - so I know that they are super tricky to get the knack of but really satisfying when you're able to use your skills in real life on holidays abroad or with international friends. I had a gap year when I experienced this in France and Spain and how surprisingly quickly you can get to be comfortable using a foreign language and actually enjoy it! Hopefully I'...

About my sessions

Depending on what level I will be tutoring for I will include different things in the sessions. For example for many A level students what really needs work is Oral practice as there is a big jump up on that from GCSE to A level when you are examined in a much freer structure for Oral work. To practice this I find it helpful to concentrate on the subjects that are being taught in class and to discuss them to supplement the in-class learning, catching up on gaps in learning. For lower level students at GCSE, often the greater problem is with grammar and key vocab. I find the best way to address this is by learning the theory behind grammar rules so that they can be applied to all the work. In order to measure progress on this I will set short exercises to ascertain the student's level before and after sessions.
