About me

Hi! I'm Maisie, a 2nd Year Medical Student. I am active and enthusiastic! At university, I play netball, and I am the team's social secretary. When I'm not studying or playing netball, I am a singer and musician.

I love studying Medicine because I am able to work with people, and improve lives. Second to this, Medicine is a field which is constantly evolving, meaning I will be learning new things throughout the rest of my career!

Aside from studying Medicine, I am also reading a Medical Spanish degree at University. I took GCSE and A-Level Spanish, and I loved it so much, that I decided to work it into my career. Learning a new language opens up so many new and exciting opportunities.

In terms of preparing for medical school, I can offer you my expertise on:

a) how to apply

b) which entrance exams to take, and how to study for your UKCAT

c) how to write your personal statement.

I will also be able to offer you interview preparation and practise.

In terms of Spanish, I can tutor GCSE, and A-Level. I am extremely competent in all areas, such as grammar, speaking, reading, writing, and listening.

Exams, and/or applying to university can be super stressful, and I know this from first-hand experience! I would love to help you achieve your goals and make the process easier for you!

About my sessions

I am keen to help students achieve their maximum potential - whatever it may be!

At the start of our tutoring journey together, we can discuss the long-term goals they may have; whether it is to achieve a certain grade, or improve in certain areas.

I am a believer in making specific action plans in order to succeed. These include:

1) The Goal

2) The steps we will take to achieve it

3) When we would like to achieve it by.

From here on, we can work together to set small goals each week in order to achieve the big goal at the end.

The lessons will be structured by setting a goal for the lesson e.g. what are the qualities of a good medical student, and how should I apply this to my personal statement. I will then give the student a pre-prepared exercise, and help them through it - e.g. 'Which of these qualities make a good/bad medical student?'. I will then review the exercise with the student, and ask questions to get them thinking. The session will be reviewed at the end with 3 main points to take away from the session.

I will prepare for the session by organising the exercises for the student. Fun, interactive exercises are a great way to learn and fully understand a topic. I will also prepare by revising my knowledge of the subjects we are to cover, to ensure that I can deliver a seamless session for the student.
