Degree: Molecular Cell Biology (Bachelors) - York University
My name is Caitlin (Kate-Lynn) I am studying for my PhD in Biology at the University of York.i absolutely love science! And have always had a real passion and excitement for all things Biology- I hope that my tutorials will give you that love too.
I am patient and friendly. I have been demonstrating in undergradute practicals since starting my PhD, as well as helping out with project students in the lab, so have a lot of experience teaching.
Science can get very complicated very quickly and so I find that the most important thing before looking at any exam questions is to ensure the basic understanding is there. During the sessions, you will guide what we cover, but I will always ensure that we focus on the basic concepts first.
I will use as many different ways (diagrams, words, analogies) as possible to explain a concept, until you are confident enough that you can explain it to me (or anyone else... the cat... your grandma...)
I hope the sessions will be fun! A lot can be achieved in 55mins especially if it is made enjoyable - science is the best and hopefully, if you didn’t think that before, you will by the end of the session!
As I have been through the University application system twice, I understand that the process can seem stressful and so I am more than happy to also help with this or with CV writing and interview skills.
If you have any questions, send me a 'WebMail' or book a 'Meet the Tutor Session'! (both accessible through this website). Remember to tell me your exam board and what you're struggling with.
I look forward to meeting you!
