About me

I have always loved studying science, especially Biology and Chemistry, because I love to understand how things work. At primary school I annoyed my teachers by asking "Why?" every time I was taught something. I think studying Medicine is amazing because there is always more to learn about the human body, and there is always a need to ask "Why?" I hope that my genuine love for my subject comes across in my teaching, and helps me to communicate clearly and creatively with students. I may be biased, but I think that studying science (and especially medicine) is the most fascinating and rewarding thing. I would love to help you to enjoy science like I do, or pass on what I've learned by going through the application processes of the top medical schools.

About my sessions

I aim to help students get a proper understanding of the concepts and a real appreciation for the incredible processes that underpin science, rather than just memorising facts to pass an exam. I structure lessons by first establishing what the student wants to learn, and which parts they are struggling with. It's important to find new and interesting ways to present information, so I use diagrams, drawings and videos to help when one way of teaching is not working well for a student.

I've often found that students who are not doing as well as they could in exams or university interviews are actually very knowledgable, but lack confidence. I aim to help students build up their confidence, so they know that they really can tackle whatever comes up without panicking. I have previous experience tutoring students in all 3 sciences, and helping students with medical school admissions, and would love to hear from you if you have any questions!

I always enjoyed Biology but REALLY enjoy it now. Katy is so good at bringing in loads of examples to explain concepts and they are often really recent from her medical studies which i particularly enjoy.

Extremely friendly speaks slowly and clearly. You can go through topics in-depth with her as she always knows the answer to questions. Not a judgy person at all and you can ask her anything that you don't understand. Amazing tutor!

My daughter enjoyed her Biology with Katy and I was very impressed with how many revision notes were created in an hour. More confidence in cells now!
