About me

Hi there! I am a second-year Mathematics (sometimes Physics, sometimes Economics) student at the University of St Andrews. As a 2017 graduate of the reformed A-Levels (a fellow guinea pig if you will) I know how difficult and pressurising exams can be, on top of deciding what you might do with your life after and so I would be so privileged if I could pave the way for you to understand and enjoy mathematics, and help you along the way, filling in any gaps that you may have. I absolutely love...

I absolutely love the rigour and beauty of mathematics and would find it incredibly rewarding if I could pass that on, perhaps even helping you with your application to study mathematics at university.

About my sessions

I would love to see students develop more confidence as they learn to solve problems independently which in no doubt would help with the jump up from high school to university and GCSE’s to A-Levels should they go on to study mathematics / sciences. Without delving into exam questions from the beginning (unless you would prefer it that way), I’d like to use the first 20 minutes or so to help you with any worries and questions you might have with the material – perhaps even longer, if needed,...

I would love to see students develop more confidence as they learn to solve problems independently which in no doubt would help with the jump up from high school to university and GCSE’s to A-Levels should they go on to study mathematics / sciences. Without delving into exam questions from the beginning (unless you would prefer it that way), I’d like to use the first 20 minutes or so to help you with any worries and questions you might have with the material – perhaps even longer, if needed, to help you gain a firm understanding of the mathematics, which will certainly make it easier when it comes to having to apply it in the exam. Part of being ‘good’ at maths is appreciating it for what it is, logical methods to solve problems which do not always have an overtly evident solution and so when you grasp this, it’ll be something you take with you beyond the exam and it’s sometimes limiting syllabus, wherever you need to solve problems. I also have many links and resources that you should find helpful when bridging the gap between different chapters in your maths course as you start preparing for your exams. Two things. You get better at maths by doing. Putting in the time and the effort and being patient with yourself even after the lesson is what will help you distinguish yourself in mathematics. Though it is difficult sometimes to see beyond the exam or even making it through, we all do, and in the end, what really matters is that hard work will always pay off.
