My philosophy in education is a balance between flexible and structured learning. I believe that the flexibility in learning allows my student to properly immerse themselves into the subject for maximized interest. Structure is equally as important in order for steady incremental growth and improvement within the field of knowledge. In order to help student achieve their goals, I usually give my students a long-term (yearly), mid-length term (monthly) and short-term (weekly) goal list. We will set our goals together and re-evaluate them shortly every week to better tailor to my students' needs and performance. The structure of my class would start off with a brief goal-setting and agenda-setting session (maximum 5 minutes) to get my students motivated. Then, I will prompt their interest by doing brainstorming exercises and games. After that, I will then proceed to their homework that was done before class. According to my students' personality, I will decide who will lead the discussion based off of that decision. Afterwards, I would dive into the main content of teaching and encourage an interactive style of teaching where my students are encouraged to jump in to contribute their opinions and answers so that they will slowly gain confidence in the subject, which is quintessential to learning. Before the end of class, I will conduct a Q&A session and prompt for my student to end with a summary of the content learned today before assigning the homework.
