Degree: History (Bachelors) - Bristol University
I am a second-year History undergraduate at the University of Bristol.
I am patient and not easily frustrated.
My subject knowledge is fairly diverse including, but not limited to, Church History in the Middle Ages, China (1850-2008), Europe in the late 19th and 20th century, Civil Rights Movement in the USA.
What Will Sessions Entail?
I should hope that the sessions will not simply be my rambling on. Not only is this dull for myself but it is not a helpful aide-memoire for the student.
Instead, sessions shall be a discourse.
I will take cue from the student as to what they wish to achieve that day and add anything else I feel would be relevant.
What's more, these sessions will be taken at the pace of the student, and I will not move on until I am, and the student is, confident in his/her understanding.
I am happy to use any learning tools that the student would feel comfortable with (e.g., Exam questions).
At the end of the day, History, Spanish, English, these are all wonderful subjects with their own individual nuances and peculiarities and I must emphasise this point. I should hope that students walk away from our sessions, not only having felt that they achieved what they wanted, but also that they enjoyed themselves. In my experience, the best exam candidates are those who look beyond the examination facade and develop a real passion for their subject.
