About me

Hi! I am a fourth-year medical student at King's College London, having pursued medicine because of a keen interest in biology and chemistry. I understand the workload and pressures high school students must be facing, regarding getting the grades as well as the expectations on them to know what their future must be. Hi! I am a fourth-year medical student at King's College London, having pursued medicine because of a keen interest in biology and chemistry. I understand the workload and pressures high school students must be facing, regarding getting the grades as well as the expectations on them to know what their future must be. I am very enthusiastic about my chosen course, but I have an approachable and open-minded attitude towards everyone's academic aspirations, and so my experience and passionate drive can be useful to all students. Before my year at myTutor, I tutored through the KCL Peer Assisted Teaching programme in medical group teaching seminars. Also, I was a personal tutor for 2 years for a GCSE student who’s dyslexia meant she found it difficult to maintain the pace of the classroom. Needing a tutor does not mean you cannot do something; my job is to help you use the tools you already have to succeed, whether that is through approaching the question differently, revision techniques and finding what works best for you.

About my sessions

Forward planning is the key to maximising who much a student will benefit from a session, therefore I ask that the student lets me know what they have been struggling or on an ongoing basis in advance, so I can tailor a lesson around their specific concerns. Forward planning is the key to maximising who much a student will benefit from a session, therefore I ask that the student lets me know what they have been struggling or on an ongoing basis in advance, so I can tailor a lesson around their specific concerns. At the start, I will ask what you already know about the subject to get a sense of your needs. I will also base every session on 10 key questions that are the main critical learning outcomes, and when I ask them at the beginning, I will focus less on knowledge and more on how you answer the questions, whether your understanding is correct, and what areas we can improve on. I will then note down your main worries and what your goal is from the session as the lesson is about you and what you deem as progress. We will then move on to the main body of the lesson, going through the basics and making sure the knowledge is there. I will also ask you what learning tools are best for you, whether you prefer diagrams, listening or making notes etc to maximise what you take from the lesson and to know to prepare some learning tools beforehand, for example past paper questions. Finally, I will ask you the 10 questions again and we will hopefully see a big improvement in your answers, from the accuracy to your confidence. Any areas that still need practise can be refreshed later when you’ve had some time alone, and I will leave you with some targets to complete before our next session.

Dunya has been an absolutely amazingly helpful tutor. She has brought me up an entire grade from my mocks to the final exams. Dunya has also been so friendly and makes the work clear and easy to understand. Would highly recommend.

Dunya provided clear and concise explanations that were easy to understand. She gave a good insight into exam conditions which helped him with his preparation. She was also patient and also gave him additional resources. He eventually achieved a grade higher than predicted in his Double science. I would recommend Dunya as a tutor. Thank you Dunya.
