About me

Hi there! I am currently a 3rd year Management student at the University of Bristol. I originally took Computer Science but switched to Management after 2 years of study. During my school life I was always very Science-based, studying Maths, Physics, Chemistry and ICT at A-level. I'm a laid back, easy to talk to, outgoing person so please feel free to get in touch if you have any more questions. Any Experience? YES! I have now been tutoring for nearly 2 years with MyTutor and have taught a variety of students and subjects (please see my reviews for their kind feedback). I also taught English, Health and Sanitation to primary school students in Uganda during the summer of 2014. Any other hobbies? Sports is my main interest, both playing and watching. Foootball, Golf, Squash are my favourites! I also love to travel and host a radio show with my friends at University. What next?

About my sessions

The Sessions: You will completely decide what we cover. In science, understanding is key. Learning facts and definition can only get you so far. Together in our 55 minutes session we can understand and overcome concepts together. All you need to do is tell me what you're stuck on, and the exam board with which your school uses. If you have any questions, send me a 'WebMail' or book a 'Meet the Tutor Session'! (both accessible through this website). Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting you! James

Questions James has answered

Solve this pair of simultaneous equations to find x and y

(1) 2x - 5y = 11 (2) 3x + 2y = 7 ----------------------- Multiply equation (1) by 3 & Multiply equation (2) by 2 to give equal values for x: (3) 6x - 15y = 33 (4) 6x + 4y = 14 ----------------------- Take equation (4) away from equation (3) in order to eliminate the x value: -15y - 4y = ...

(1) 2x - 5y = 11

(2) 3x + 2y = 7

-----------------------

Multiply equation (1) by 3 & Multiply equation (2) by 2 to give equal values for x:

(3) 6x - 15y = 33

(4) 6x + 4y = 14

-----------------------

Take equation (4) away from equation (3) in order to eliminate the x value:

-15y - 4y = 33 - 14

-19y = 19

y = -1

-----------------------

Subsitute back in to equation (1) or (2) to find the value of x:

(1) 2x - 5y = 11

     2x - 5(-1) = 11

     2x + 5 = 11

     2x = 6

     x = 3

-----------------------

Check!

(2) 3x + 2y = 7

     3(3) + 2(-1) = 7

     9 + (-2) = 7

     9 - 2 = 7
