About me

Hi!

I'm a second year Mathematics student at Imperial College London. My goal is for you to learn Maths in the easiest, quickest and most interesting way. (Which I often find is to understand a technique rather than to simply recall it.)

Hi!

I'm a second year Mathematics student at Imperial College London. My goal is for you to learn Maths in the easiest, quickest and most interesting way. (Which I often find is to understand a technique rather than to simply recall it.)

I'm originally from the South West UK, Dorset, where I did my GCSEs (including self-teaching Further Mathematics and Statistics) and A-Levels, for which I averaged well over 90UMS over all modules. So I know the UK educational system and what the exams are like, additionally I am well aware of the reforms as have younger siblings who are now going through the reformed system and I have tutored them during these exams.

As with every Maths tutor I have a strong passion for Maths, shown not only by my grades, but also the Maths competitions I have partaken in whereby I have reached various national and regional finals, achieved several Gold awards, including becoming team champions in 2016.

I am not new to teaching as during secondary school I was a mentor, Supervisor and Teaching assistant, which I loved. And so I know how to teach in a clear and concise way.

When I'm not doing Maths I enjoy running, Taekwondo, and Tennis. And I am a firm believer that these activities ultimately enhance my Mathematical skill by giving me some 'down time'.

About my sessions

I believe a brief 10-20 minute, free of charge, introductory call is incredibly useful for me to find out what you want out of these tutoring sessions and for you to decided if you think I am what you're looking for.

My sessions will revolve entirely about you, if there is a topic that you are unsure of or if there is some homework that you are unsure of, we will go through them to make sure you understand it 100%. I am a firm believer that you need to understand someth...

My sessions will revolve entirely about you, if there is a topic that you are unsure of or if there is some homework that you are unsure of, we will go through them to make sure you understand it 100%. I am a firm believer that you need to understand something completely before you are comfortable with it and so I aim to ensure that you understand everything within your syllabus, by explaining how to picture it and where certain derivations come from. With this I hope, and expect that as you become more comfortable with the questions and topics and you will be confident in experimenting with different methods and pushing the boundaries of your specification.

Maths is a not a spectator sport, but this I mean that doing questions is absolutely essential, and learning the theory behind a technique is only one part of the process, so I aim to do examples demonstrating every technique we learn.

Ultimately exam papers are based on the specification set out by the exam board, and so we will aim to go through the entire specification, making sure that you know everything that may come up in your exam.

My son has hugely benefited from George’s practical, patient approach. He much prefers it to tutors he’s worked with in person. I think the fact that George is nearer his age has also helped him relate, but the system - where they can both see what the other is doing - has definitely helped progress too.

Didn't expect to finish going through the whole test, but we achieved it due to good communication and Georges great understanding of the subjects. Would recommend
