About me

Hello, my names Izzi and I am currently studying for my Master in Mathematics at Bristol University (I am in my second year). I am planning to use my degree as a gateway into medical research, which I feel is a field in which I feel I can make a difference. I have always loved maths, especially the satisfaction of completing a complex problem. I am planning to use my degree as a gateway into medical research, which I feel is a field in which I feel I can make a difference. I have always loved maths, especially the satisfaction of completing a complex problem. During my GCSE's I taught myself Additional maths ( as my school did not offer it and I achieved an A) so i have experience with persevering with difficult Maths. In my spare time I really enjoy baking, going to the gym and relaxing with my friends when doing not doing work for University. When doing my AS level’s, I tutored a boy in year 11 in his maths GCSE, in which he got two grades higher then his predicted grade. Hence, I have previous experience with tutoring. This means that I understand and can deal with any problems which arise when tutoring in a calm and controlled way.

I believe a key part of tutoring is tailoring your own method to suit the student, every student is unique and hence learn in different ways, and my sessions will reflect this. The basic layout of my sessions will be split into three parts. In the first section, I would go over any homework set in the previous session with the student making sure they are completely understanding the previous topic. We would then move onto the bulk of the session which would be covering the chosen topic for that day in detail (normally decided the previous session) and work through examples together. Finally, we would discuss the chosen topic for that next session and I would set homework to be completed. Also, when a student is attempting an answer I believe it is important to let them independently work before we go through it together (even if they are making small errors), as it helps them understand their answers in more detail as well as teaching them to trust their instincts when answering.

Izzi is an amazing Maths teacher who is supportive and gives plenty of encouragement and constantly challenges her students. She is extremely conscientious in finding resources that are suitable and most of all her lessons are fun. Anyone who has Izzi as a teacher is extremely fortunate to find a passionate teacher who is very skilled in teaching.
