About me

Hi! I'm Molly-Rose and I'm currently in my first year studying Modern Languages at Durham University! Alongside my 6th Form education, I spent several hours a week teaching piano and dance to young people of a variety of ages, ranging from 4 to 17. Hi! I'm Molly-Rose and I'm currently in my first year studying Modern Languages at Durham University! Alongside my 6th Form education, I spent several hours a week teaching piano and dance to young people of a variety of ages, ranging from 4 to 17. I thoroughly enjoyed this interaction and sharing of knowledge in a fun and relaxed environment and in each of my lessons I would strive to convey my energy and enthusiasm to my pupils. This teaching experience encouraged me to develop a versatile approach when tutoring young people and enabled me to engage with each of my pupils in a way that would be most beneficial to their individual learning, be it through slow and steady repetition, or games that tested their newly learnt skills. To see constant the improvement over the months brought me such joy, proving to both myself and my pupils how persistence and determination can bring great merits.

After 6th Form I Au-Paired for 4 children in France and then 1 child in Germany for a year. Not only was I able to become more confident in speaking these languages, I was also able to develop a very strong bond with the children, an experience that I will never forget and one that I feel really puts me in a strong position to be able tutor languages. Learning languages is an invaluable skill in every walk of life, and allows you to engage with the world in a way only possible through the mastering of a foreign tongue.

About my sessions

I think the best way to go about this is by keeping everything relaxed and friendly, from experience keeping the stress levels low is the most generally the most efficient way to progress. We will first discuss everything you have covered in school and we will pinpoint areas together that you feel as if you need to work on. I will encourage you to take the lead here and really focus in on what it is you feel you need to be working on. From here, together we will create a plan of action and a...

From here, together we will create a plan of action and a checklist including topics we have decided you need to focus on. There is no point in making a rigid timetable because that will just stress us both out if we don’t stick to it and there is no point in rushing through everything just to tick things off the list.

We will decide together on the topic or topics that we will work on in the following session and I will encourage you to briefly look over it beforehand. I will prepare a short presentation explaining the topic from scratch that we will work through together in the session. In the last fifteen minutes we will recap everything we have covered with some questions just to see how well everything has sunk in. If I think you’ve got the hang of it, we can tick it off our to-do list and move on to the next topic, if not, we can spend some more time on it in the next session.
