About me

Hello! My name is Angella but everyone calls me Ella. I am at university studying languages and English; I chose to study these subjects because I love the ability to understand people from all over the world, as well as learning about different cultures. Hello! My name is Angella but everyone calls me Ella. I am at university studying languages and English; I chose to study these subjects because I love the ability to understand people from all over the world, as well as learning about different cultures. When I applied to university, the possibility for a joint or even triple degree in languages solidified my choice; they really open doors for you in life, and I believe languages are a brilliant skill to have. However, they are not easy, which is why throughout my learning I have developed simple strategies, as well as my own resources such as vocabulary lists and verb tables, to make the process easier and more enjoyable. Likewise, going through past papers is incredibly important, which is why I would focus on using these resources during lessons; even just planning what you would include in a writing test, or mind-mapping topic vocabulary before a reading exam can be so useful in warming up your brain. Most importantly languages are about having fun; you will always be learning something new, and the reward of being able to communicate in a foreign language is well worth the effort.

About my sessions

When learning large amounts of information, repetition and condensing knowledge is key. I will start the lesson with a recap of the previous, as well as discussing any queries from the student. Each lesson will focus on a particular aspect of a topic that the student needs to focus on, be that a tense in Spanish, a scene in English or an organ in Biology, which will take up the majority of the time. The final five-ten minutes will be spent giving extra work for home to bring to the next lesson, as well as ensuring that everything from that day is understood. It is so important to understand a topic before progressing, and gaps in knowledge are easier to fill as you go rather than the weeks before the final exam. However, the lessons are also flexible to focus on the areas most needing revision, so I am happy to spend longer on one topic until it is fully learnt; the most important aspect of these lessons is that the student is covering material that is increasing their confidence and knowledge of a subject.

Angella was excellent. She really accommodated my daughter's weird schedule, and went above and beyond helping her prepare for some exams at very short notice. I would highly recommend Angella.
