About me

Hello everyone!

My name is Angeliki and I am a first year undergraduate studying Psychology at Queen Mary University of London. I realised that Psychology was the perfect fit for me at the beginning of my second year of the International Baccalaureate Programme. I consider Psychology to be a most valuable and exciting field of study, as by exploring the infinite depth of the human mind, I am also exploring my own self. I am convinced that throughout the years of my studies, the many concerns I have will be addressed, if not fully answered.

Throughout my high school years, I had to balance my very demanding school work with the responsibilities of my main extracurricular activity, which is Theatre, as it is my biggest passion following Psychology. I have co-directed and performed in various plays, both in and outside of school. I also volunteered for 2 years at a non profit theatre organisation in Greece, and have completed a 2 week summer seminar with The Juilliard School of Drama. It was through this need to manage school and extracurriculars that I developed excellent time management and responsibility skills, which I believe are very important in order to excel in your academic career. Applying to university while trying to excel in school can also be very stressful, which is why I find it is best to have an attentive and dedicated tutor helping you out.

About my sessions

My lessons will be structured depending on each individual student’s needs, and in a way that will directly address their needs. I will be providing the students with both written and verbal feedback in order to help them improve their work - that being Internal Assessments or any other assignments.

In my experience, the most effective and efficient way of studying for exams is to first review the material from the textbook while taking notes, and then practice through many past papers. I personally also found it useful to study straight from the mark schemes, which I can provide to my students as I have access to all past papers and mark schemes for all subjects. I strongly believe that reviewing mark schemes alone before trying to solve past papers is essential, as it helps students understand exactly what the examiners are looking for and expect from them.

Questions Angeliki has answered

How 'personal' should my personal statement be?

When the admissions team at universities look at your personal statement, they usually ask two main questions (1) Do we want this student on this course? (2) Do we want this student on this course? It is important to remember the aim of the personal statement, which is to show why YOU should be accepted at your chosen course at your chosen university. A personal statement is usually the only chance that your chosen university has to 'hear' about you, as in some cases it is an alternative to an interview. It is the real you that they want to know about. So, in order for a personal statement to stand out, it needs to be written in a personal style and present something different in terms of content. When the admissions team at universities look at your personal statement, they usually ask two main questions (1) Do we want this student on this course?
