Hello there! My name is Elisa. I originally come from Italy, where I have studied modern languages. I moved to the UK almost 4 years ago to complete a bachelor's in Psychology and pursue my passion for the study of cognition and language. Currently, I am studying Language Sciences at UCL, where I also teach weekly language classes for the Italian Society. I am passionate about the study of the mind and brain, and how our language and interactions influence the way we think and behave. I dream of a career in research, alongside a teaching position that would allow me to share my passions and expertise with others. I believe teaching is one of the most rewarding professions out there. Personally I love sharing my knowledge and engage in discussions, something good always comes out of a stimulating conversation! My passion for psychology comes from my interest in human behaviour, especially the social aspect of our everyday lives. Quickly after starting my degree, I became acquainted with the field of psycholinguistics, which provides a fascinating approach to the study of language and psychology. My other passion is for the Italian language, and being my mother tongue, I feel extremely proud of being able to share it with other people. Throughout my studies, I had the amazing opportunity to teach Italian to both children and adults, which allowed me to gain invaluable experience, while meeting wonderful people.

Personally, I value the experience of my students above all else, therefore my priority is always to establish a friendly and supportive environment within the classroom (be it a group or individual session). My teaching methods include the use of interactive activities and tasks in which I work with the students to figure out the underlying concepts of the topic at hand. I have found that this approach allows the students to directly engage with the materials and benefit from active participation in the lesson, while it helps me to keep track of their progress and understanding. The classes will involve exchanges and discussions that will help the students develop their understanding of critical concepts and issues related to the topic of interest. I will also integrate the lessons with additional materials and "food for thought" questions to encourage the students to practice their independent study skills, but also their critical thinking. I believe that it is important to set clear goals in order to encourage learning, however, I am also aware that different people take different approaches to studying. Therefore, I intend to agree on a tutoring plan which will be tailored to the students' individual needs and incorporate personalised goals, alongside strategies to achieve them. This will help both the students and myself tailor each session to a specific purpose, while tracking our progress.
