About me

I am a final year Psychology and Spanish student at the University of Liverpool, a Latin and Ballroom dancer, a travel worshipper, and a music fanatic. One of my greatest satisfactions in life is sharing what I have learnt already with younger students, and I have worked and volunteered as a teacher, tutor, mentor and coach in both my academic and extra-curricular ventures for 6 years already. I am available to tutor both Spanish and Psychology at GCSE and A Level, and I can also support you...

I am available to tutor both Spanish and Psychology at GCSE and A Level, and I can also support you with Personal Statement, CV and cover letter writing as well as interview skills, exam techniques and revision support.

Having just got back from working in Granada, Spain for a year teaching primary science, my Spanish is at a near-native level, and I have experience teaching languages at all levels from Beginner to Advanced. On the Psychology side of my degree, I am currently working on a full-scale research project investigating child language acquisition, so I am well-equipped to share my expertise with ethics, research methods and statistics.

Every lesson with me is tailored to the student's specific needs, and I continue to be flexible throughout the year as those needs evolve and change approaching exam times. With regards to my tutoring approach and style, I find that by working with the student as a supportive colleague rather than a more formal teacher, I avoid the traditional classroom environment and help my student to overcome their concerns, giving them the best shot at acing their exams. I help the student to take control of their studies and use self-evaluation, supported by my advice, to encourage them to identify their own weaknesses and tackle them head-on. This has proved invaluable in building my students' confidence and is a skill that will serve them long after our last lesson together.

My techniques for measuring progress depend heavily on what the student and I are working on at the time. If we are focusing on vocabulary in Spanish or specific research studies in Psychology, I use little tests and quizzes throughout the lesson to check their memory and comprehension. If we are improving essay technique or working on a personal statement, this would involve me giving constructive feedback at every stage. I do my best to keep homework to an absolute minimum; students have a high enough workload already and my lessons should equip them with the skills to maximise the quality of their own independent study, rather than leave them with more hoops to jump through.
