As a tutor, i like to encourage students to not only work towards better grades but also develop a fundamental understanding and a passion for the subject. In my view, this is a more enduring and rewarding education.

Beyond my studies, i taught first aid in Kenya for 6 weeks to people of all ages and english language abilities, i have worked as a Barrister's assistant at Cardiff Crown Court, in addition to work as a student ambassador at Cardiff University. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, reading, and going to the cinema.

About my sessions

In Philosophy, reading relevant material would typically be required of you prior to the online lesson, which would then allow us to discuss any difficulties or issues that you may have, and more importantly, to have a proper philosophical discussion.

I will encourage you to simplify the reading material, which is sometimes quite dense and complex, into an argument consisting of a few premises. Besides helping you understand the material better, this will also strengthen your ability to focus on the key points of a reading (which is applicable to any subject you come across).

Importantly, i want to ensure that you engage with and understand the material, in whatever way is appropriate for you, rather than feeling that you are merely memorising material, e.g. the sake of an upcoming exam. This, i think, makes the difference between doing well and doing brilliantly in studying philosophy.

With biology, i will typically cover any subjects you are having issue with, and try to explain them in a new way. I don't like to just talk and let you fall asleep, so i like to quiz you, and when possible, encourage you to arrive at answers on your own.

For exam purposes, using past papers and mark schemes are essential to doing very well, so these will play a large role.
