About me

Me:

Hello, I'm currently a medical student at Bristol university. I'm a happy, enthusiastic and chatty person and I am used to being in a teaching positon because my other job is working as a sailing instructor. Biology and Chemistry are my two favorite subjects and I hope that my tutorials will help you enjoy them too. I know that they are often associated with being 'tricky' and 'content heavy' subjects but through understanding key concepts the information load can be made lighter.

Sessions:

These tutorials are the perfect time to address topic areas that you find particularly difficult or have been rushed through at school. You will guide the topics we cover and we will address these topics in a variety of ways (mind-maps, diagrams, questions) until you are completely happy with them. Different students have different preferences but I know from having just done GCSE's and A-levels myself that students like to know what will get them the marks in exams. Therefore, we will use practice questions to consolidate your knowledge and prepare for exams. A lot can be achieved in 55 minutes and after these tutorials you should feel refreshed, confident and satisfied by your understanding. What's really important to me is that the tutorial is enjoyable because that makes it easier for you to learn and be engaged for the whole tutorial..

What next?

If you have any questions, send me a 'WebMail' or book a 'Meet the Tutor Session'! Remember to let me know your exam board and what you're struggling with.

Look forward to hearing from you :)

• down group 2 the number of protons increases therefore the nuclear charge increases (protons are found in the nucelus and have a +1 charge)

• the number of shielding electrons increases (each member down has an extra shelf of electrons)

• the number of electrons in the outer shelf remains the same (all have 2)

• the force of attraction between the outer electrons and the nucleus decreases, (due to shiedling) therefore ionisation energy decreases (less energy required to remove the outer electron due to weaker electrostatic attraction between the nucleus and outer electrons)
