Hello I'm Matt and I am currently a first year Biochemsitry student at Univeristy of Southampton. I love to enthuse others in my interests and this passion goes into my teaching. I'm extremely personable and I really enjoy helping others to reach their goals. There's no better personal reward than helping someone to overcome their hurdles and watch their confidence flourish in a subject. I've always had a thirst for knowledge and I would love to share this knowledge with you!
Previous tutor experience
During my A2 studies I had an exceptional chemistry tutor who took me from a C to an A. I will approach sessions in the same way she did with me, so that hopefully you can make the same progress.
I was a chemsitry mentor for year 12's when I was in Year 13. This involved 1 to 1 tuition in my free time helping anyone who would come to me with questions about chemistry. I have also tutored family friends Biology, Chemistry and Maths at GCSE level and lower.
My sessions will be completely tailored to your needs. You tell me what topic you'd like to go over and I will do all I can to make sure that by the end of the session, you will be so confident with it you could teach someone else how to do it! I try to make the sessions as fun and engaging as possible and that they are not in such a formal, daunting atmosphere as school. I have each exam boards specificaton printed out so I know as to what level of understanding is needed for each topic. I am very patient and will work at whatever speed you feel comfortable at, and will only move on when you are happy. My goal is to make sure you reach your goals!

Covalent bonding is the sharing of electrons between 2 or more non metals.
A population of one species is separated by a physical barrier, e.g a geographical barrier such as the movement of tectonic plates. There will then be 2 isolated groups of the same species unable to interbreed with each other. The two groups will expereince different selection pressures and therefore different alleles will have selective advantages. Overtime the offspring of the two groups will become so different that if the two groups were to meet again, they not be able to interbreed to produce fertile offspring. Equation 1: 2x + y = 13
Equation 2: 3x + 2y = 21
Multiply 'equation 1' by 2 gives: 4x + 2y = 26
4x + 2y = 26 can be equation 3.
Subtract equation 3 from equation 2, gives x = 5.
By doing this, you eliminate the y and therefore are left with the value of x.
So if x = 5, then put x=5 into 'equation 1'.
2(5) + y = 13.
10 + y = 13
Subract 10 from both sides and you're left with
Now check your answers are right by putting x=5 and y=3 into 'equation 2'.
3(5) + 2(3) = 21.
