About me

About me: I am an undergraduate student studying geography at Durham University. I have a real passion for my subject as well as knowledge in general. That was one of the reasons I choose to study geography since, due to its broad focus, it covers aspects of many other disciplines. I hope that through tutoring, I shall pass my love for learning on to you. I have tutored on numerous occassions throughout my previous school and found this experience extremely rewarding. As well as this, in sixth form, I became head of both the pastoral and academic support system in the school. I therefore fully understand the positive impact that a tutor can upon the learning of an individual and wish to share this experience with as many as possible. The sessions: The sessions will have a relaxed atmosphere where you should feel comfortable enough to ask me anything, ranging from specific subject queries to advice for the exams. No question is too small or too stupid to be asked!  Most importantly, the sessions will be fun, entertaining and enjoyable. I shall not bore you by simply reciting textbook knowledge but instead use interactive methods, regular quizzes, analogies and diagrams. By the end of the sessions, therefore, you will have hopefully gained confidence in both yourself and your learning abilities.  Want to find out more: If this sounds like something for you, please get in touch and send me a 'WebMail' or book a 'Meet the Tutor Session'.  Hopefully see you soon.

Questions Andrea has answered

I don't understand what exactly a mole is, could you please explain it to me?

Basicallly a mole refers to a number, in the same way as a dozen also refers to a number, this number being 12. Except instead of 12, the word mole refers to the number of 6 x 1023, which is basically a 6 followed by 23 zeros. Therefore, in the same way as that you can have a dozen pears or apples, you can also have a mole of pears or apples (i.e.  6 x 1023 pears or apples). In this way the word mole just means a specific number of things.
