For me, it’s completely normal to perform these divergent pursuits as, though they may seem uncorrelated to the average person, to me, they are interests that arose out of my love for learning new experiences.

Law? My passion for Law derives from being exposed to teaching and learning environments that focus on analyzing how political, social, legal, and economic factors have shaped the structures of societies worldwide. This passion is strengthened by my love for analyzing complex and abstract structures and deconstructing them to discover their meanings and how they have been caused and shaped by these factors. This is further reinforced by my love for linguistic flexibility which, in effect, allows for the manipulation of words to construct completely different understandings and theories regarding the causal and effectual interpretations of these structural meanings which, in turn, leads to contentious yet meaningful discussions that aim to influence impactful real-world change.

About my sessions

In tutoring, my goal is to efficiently and effectively teach students the substantive content they require while instilling in them analytical, discursive, and systematic writing styles and thought processes that allow them to learn to think and reason analytically for their exams and their own personal development. Exam boards at all levels now place even higher value and emphasis on such analytical thought processes and writing styles than ever before and they look deeper into students’ answers by requiring opinionatedly justified and analytical discussions that consider various conflicting arguments and rank them relatively. Accordingly, in meeting my goal, I succinctly summarise all teaching materials required for each tutorial so that I am fully capable of answering questions and facilitating discussions. That said, I also fundamentally believe in tutorials being led jointly by student alongside tutors as this maximises the benefits they reap out of each session. As such, my sessions will involve: 1- me delivering a presentation wherein my student and I analyse the core concepts together; and, 2- me teaching my student to systematically write and convey their arguments about these topics in exams using past papers. I believe that this approach is best as it focuses on imparting core information and academic writing skills to prepare students to anticipate exam questions and flexibly deal with unforeseen ones effectively based on the standards of examining bodies.

Really great lesson with Mansour! Very straight to the point - gave me value in less than an hour than some of my tutors at uni have in a whole academic year!
