Hi! I'm a third year medical student at Cambridge. I'm approachable, a true northener, and I know what it's like to struggle at something! I'm especially good at helping people to apply to Cambridge, I've seen a lot of personal statements and I don't mind sharing mine with tutees. I got 6 A*s at A level, 10 A*s in my GCSEs and 1sts in my first 2 years at Cambridge, so I'm very keen and I know how to do well in exams. I'd love to help young students meet their personal academic goals, at whatever level that might be.

Type 1 diabetes occurs when the immune system to fails to identify a group of cells in the pancreas called the beta islet of Langerhans cells as 'self' cells. This means that they are recognised as 'foreign' and destroyed early on in life. These are the cells that would normally produce insulin in a healthy individual. Therefore, people with type 1 diabetes can't produce insulin and so they can't regulate their own blood sugar levels.see more
People make so many mistakes in personal statements. Looking back at mine, I can pick holes in the one that I submitted 4 years ago. Having said that, I got at least as far as the interview stage at every medical school that I applied for. The writing of your personal statement can have huge consequences because it's the very first impression that you make, and sets the scene for interview questions later - be prepared to talk at length about anything that you mention!
I'm very used to helping people with these, so I know what makes a good personal statement. I've had very positive feedback from all the students that I've helped and so far (touch wood) all of them are now at medical school. I'm more than happy to share my personal statement that got me a place at Cambridge with any tutee.see more
