About me

I am a current biomedical student at Edinburgh university who want to help high school students who are struggling with subjects. Through my recent experience in high school, I believe I have a great perspective of what to revise for exams and different methods in which to learn then easily.
I have created multiple study methods and techniques with which I achieved to get As in subjects and enhance my interest towards them.
Therefore, I would love to share my study methods and help students in high school who are struggling with these subjects.

Questions Daniella has answered

What is a mole?

A mole is a unit for amount of substance.

This unit was created because we needed a common unit which could be used to convert from eg. number of atoms/molecules to grams or concentration to grams.

What is the difference between transcription and translation

Transcription is the sythesis of mRNA, where the DNA code is coverted to a complementary DNA code.

Translation occurs where the mRNA is decoded by a ribosome to produce a specific amino acid chain or polypeptide

What is the median, upper quartile and lower quatile. How do we find them?

The easiest way to explain this would be to use an examplar question. For example:

Ben is given a sequence of numbers and is told to find the median, lower quartile and upper quartile.

1,4,5,6,8,9,11,12,14,15,16,17

The median is the number in the sequence (has to be rearranged to increasing numbers as shown in the question) which is in th MIDDLE of the sequence. In this case it would be 11.

The lower quartile is the median in between the smallest number and the median i.e. in between 1 and 11, which will be 6.

For the upper quartile, you find the median between the median and the largest number i.e. between 11 and 17, which will be 15 according to the question above.
