About me

Hi there! My name is Anysa and I am studying History (BA) at Queen Mary University of London. History for me is all about stories and events that are interesting, exciting and out of the ordinary. In my opinion, people in the past are intriguing and amazing to study if you know how and where to look. This is why applying for history as a degree was a no-brainer and if you are learning History with me, it will be the same for you. Studying History at GCSE and at A Level can be challenging if y...

In my opinion, people in the past are intriguing and amazing to study if you know how and where to look. This is why applying for history as a degree was a no-brainer and if you are learning History with me, it will be the same for you. Studying History at GCSE and at A Level can be challenging if you are not aware of where examiners give marks and so you might know a lot about a topic and are passionate about it, but still not getting the grades you need. I found that finding the right balance between passion and also structure is what gave me the grade I needed for university and I continue to use these skills in my degree going forward.

I believe that every student is capable of getting a high grade if they are consistent with a structure and I like to pinpoint exactly what the examiner wants so that this is possible. I also think that the key to consistency is enjoyment and if students are interested in what they are learning, then they are more likely to be successful and are keen to know more.

About my sessions

My student’s progress is an essential part to the way I structure my lessons. The pace of lessons will be tailored to how my student learn individually. For example, if a topic is unclear at the end of the lesson, I will set a task for the student to take away with him or her and then refocus on a more in depth lesson the next time.

My student’s progress is an essential part to the way I structure my lessons. The pace of lessons will be tailored to how my student learn individually. For example, if a topic is unclear at the end of the lesson, I will set a task for the student to take away with him or her and then refocus on a more in depth lesson the next time.

The structure of the lesson will begin with an understanding of the topic, then an example exam question. The student will observe the mark scheme to highlight exactly what gives them the marks. We will plan this question together using exam structure. They will then attempt a question by themselves at home under timed conditions. The next lesson, we will mark this question together and after progress is clear over a number of lessons, I will mark an essay and give them professional feedback accordingly.

I have constructed this lesson plan on what worked for me when I was studying and what way was the easiest to get the results I wanted. Learning techniques that work well for written subjects is clear plans using context and information; thoroughly understanding structure and then knowing how to apply it to an exam question.
