About me

I am an English Literature student with a passion for language and its’ creative ability. Not only is English a fun and rewarding subject, it challenges and enhances both the analytical and creative parts of the mind. Furthermore, one of the most beneficial things about English is that it incorporates many other subjects such as history, politics and even science, providing an insightful and holistic outlook.

Not only is English a fun and rewarding subject, it challenges and enhances both the analytical and creative parts of the mind. Furthermore, one of the most beneficial things about English is that it incorporates many other subjects such as history, politics and even science, providing an insightful and holistic outlook.

Having undergone the examination process of GCSEs and A-Levels, I have a good understanding of the different writing styles required for each and am able to adapt my teaching style in order to accommodate students at different stages in their education. Secondly, after completing the University application process, I can help students prepare for their own applications and assist with the academic transition that occurs between sixth form and university.

During my time at university I have been an active member of many extracurricular activities. I am an avid sportswoman, having played Netball and Volleyball whilst also being a member of the Ballroom and Latin Dance Society. I also sing in one of the university's Acapella groups and have participated in several Musical Theatre Shows throughout my time at University. Lastly, I have made a conscious effort to continue studying areas outside of my subject such as Law and German. This is because I believe that doing so broadens the mind, providing individuals with a greater understanding of the world.

When it comes to tutoring, I believe that students and tutors must work collectively in order to ensure lessons are as relevant and effective as possible. Whilst each session requires detailed planning to be done in advance, I am also aware that students often come with their own ideas or preferences regarding what they want to learn. Therefore, my sessions will be flexible with regards structure, allowing students the opportunity to shape their own learning according to personal interests and academic requirements. This cooperative approach is not just effective in developing students’ academic abilities, it also enhances their ability to think and work independently. This skill becomes increasingly vital for those wanting to carry their education onto a higher level as education becomes a conscious choice in which individuals are expected to decide precisely what they wish to study. Having said this, I am also able to provide more holistic or standardised lessons for students wanting a broader overview of different subjects. This method is also useful, especially for students who are just starting out in their subject and are therefore not at a stage where they are ready to specialise. In addition, this standardised form of teaching is useful for GCSE students whose exams require a more holistic knowledge of topics in comparison with A-level exams which allow individuals to focus in more depth on specific subject areas.
