About me

I am a second year student studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at the University of Manchester. I thoroughly enjoy my my time at university. I do a lot of sport like netball, boxing and running and I love travelling. I also have a lot of volunteering experience as I have an immense enthusiasm to help people. I do a lot of sport like netball, boxing and running and I love travelling. I also have a lot of volunteering experience as I have an immense enthusiasm to help people. I have a passion for my degree as it examines not only normative questions like how the world should be (through philosophy) but also empirical questions about how the world is (through politics and economics). I chose my degree through my love for my A-Level subjects; History, Philosophy and ethics and Mathematics. PPE incorporates many different types of learning, requiring an ability to not only write essays but also to solve equations. PPE therefore demands intense thinking and analysing. I have a love for teaching seen in my experience from tutoring GCSE during my A-Level years and mentoring children from disadvantaged backgrounds during my time at University. With my analysing skill set and my experience I am excited to tutor.

About my sessions

My main priority is to help students achieve individual goals. This means I will adapt sessions to specific requirements. If you're studying Philosophy and Ethics A-Level or Religious Studies GCSE I have an excellent understanding of the content and I have different ways of explaining it. If you require help with exams and essays I can provide small and simple measures which can be applied to all exams. I've got some tricks up my sleeve that examiners love! If it is more specific to a particular exam question and understanding the exam terminology such as 'evaluate' or 'describe' or a question with a yes/no answer, I can provide structures on how to write a great answer to all types of questions. If you need help with organisational skills and planning revision I have some fantastic methods of doing this. I believe that organisation and revision plans are the most effective way of ensuring progress with exam practice being the second most effective way.

In order to measure progress I might ask that students write up exam or essay plans for me to mark or even whole answers if it seems most helpful. In order to do this effectively I will always acknowledge student's specific exam boards in order to ensure I mark according to what their exam board requires. I will also mark according to particular strengths or weaknesses students need help with.
