I am currently a maths student at the University of Warwick, studying for a Masters of Mathematics with a view to ultimately becoming a mathematician. I love the subject and find mathematical rigour and proof to be some of the most enjoyable parts of the subject - I am a pure mathematician at heart!
I have experience in a wide array of different mathematical topics and examination courses including STEP papers (I, II and III). I have been teaching since I was fourteen years old when I taught beginners saxophone and piano. I am an enthusiastic tutor and find all aspects of teaching extremely rewarding, especially the challenge of explaining abstract ideas in new and unconventional ways!
My Teaching Style:
The fundamentals of mathematics is in the understanding. I believe that in order to succeed at mathematics students must be encouraged first to understand all of the concepts that they are learning, before applying their understanding. I will begin every session on a new topic/field with a short introduction to the topic; a quick discussion of some of the theoretical underpinnings of the subject in the form of interactive proofs or more informal explanations (depending on which is more intuitive); and, finally, we will do plenty of example questions on the subject matter working together and then independently to test understanding. I like to teach in an interactive and varied style with a mix of visual, graphic teaching with graphs and diagrams alongside a more gentle introduction to the rigour of mathematics at A level and beyond.
Am I the tutor for you?
I hope so, but it’s always best to check! If you think you might be interested in some of my tutoring please send me a message via the site (I check my messages on a regular basis) or book a “Meet the Tutor” session with me, I am always happy to meet new students!
I am excited to work with you!
