About me

Hi, I’m Ailish and I study physics at the University of Bristol. I have always enjoyed and succeed in physics, as well as in other subjects, leading me to win my school’s science prize for A Level results and the headteacher’s prize for my GSCE results. I am an enthusiastic student and I hope to transfer this enthusiasm to students I tutor. I have always enjoyed and succeed in physics, as well as in other subjects, leading me to win my school’s science prize for A Level results and the headteacher’s prize for my GSCE results. I am an enthusiastic student and I hope to transfer this enthusiasm to students I tutor. I have experience working with children and young people, from being a Sixth Form Ambassador for my school, to working in a sweet shop whilst doing my A Levels. I am hard working and dedicated, but also a patient and approachable person. I want my students to feel comfortable around me and not have to worry about struggling as this is something everyone encounters. The most important thing is that they achieve what they need to move on to the next stage of their education.

About my sessions

I would like to use the methods I use personally to study to help my students, as these are tried and tested. However, each student will have their own learning style, so I will be adaptable and keen to listen to how the students think they best work. Learning should be a collaboration between tutor and student, and it’s very important for students to be listened to and feel valued. My personal method is to identify problem areas/topics, revise them specifically by writing out notes, discussing it, then practicing questions to see if progress has been made. Especially with science and maths, practice is key, but it is crucial to first understand the material. My lessons will be flexible, planned but mutable. I would also like students to bring me any specific problems they struggle with.
