About me

Hi, I'm Ben!

I'm currently a Physics student at Durham Uni, and I've started tutoring because I find it genuinely satisfying and rewarding, as well as being a good way to earn some extra money. Having said that, I already have experience from voluntarily tutoring some of the kids from the local schools, which has been really enjoyable so far.

Having said that, I already have experience from voluntarily tutoring some of the kids from the local schools, which has been really enjoyable so far.

For me, Maths and Physics have always been fascinating as they explain every detail about the world around us. Despite being founded in the minds of humans, Maths is intrinsically rooted in nature, and when it comes to solving problems, I have always found it's certainty to be comforting.

As a tutor then, I will not only aim to improve your marks, but hopefully help you enjoy the subject a lot more. With the right perspective and understanding, I believe any academic study - whether an art or science - should be accessible to anyone.

About my sessions

My sessions will be pretty informal, but importantly centred around you; whatever areas you feel you need to focus on, we'll cover at a comfortable pace, working through problems together, and looking at some examples from actual exam papers. I often set a few questions to do outside of the sessions as well, just so we have something to talk about at the start.

Although it does mean more homework, it's vital that you practice doing questions independently, since that is how it'll be in an exam! On top of that, I like to get the lesson started with a little logic puzzle (along the lines of something you would find in a newspaper), so we can get the brain engaged without jumping straight into the subject itself.
