Degree: Medicine (Bachelors) - Edinburgh University
I am a 3rd year medical student at Edinburgh University. I have got a lot of enjoyment out the a-levels I studied at school (maths and the 3 sciences) and have a real passion for teaching them. I have enjoyed teaching my younger sister as she has gone through the school qualification, so i am used to teaching younger pupils. I was maths prefect at school and this involved tutoring pupils at the daily maths clinic, from this experience I learnt to get on with a wide variety of personalities.
I am friendly and good at explaining ideas simply. I have coached hockey and currently am the captain of my university team, so i am used to giving out instructions and explanations.
It can be difficult to know where to begin these sessions. If you have areas that you want to cover and questions you have found difficult, this is a great place to start. Alternatively I can go through exam modules systematically with pupils to cover everything or the core concepts depending on your wishes.
I have find diagrams very useful for my own learning and I find pupils find them to be useful as well at clearly demonstrating a lot of information at once, clearly. An excellent way to test your learning is through quizzes that i can set or through getting you to explain the concept to me, so i know that you have understood it.
Finally I will try to make the sessions fun and interactive because if you are enjoying yourself the sessions are obviously more pleasant and your learning will be improved.
I'm applying to medical school.. Can you help me?!
Yes! I have been through the medical school application twice so I am very familiar with how stressful it can be. I will try to make some of the hoops a little easier to jump through.
If you have any questions, send me a 'WebMail' or book a 'Meet the Tutor Session'! (both accessible through this website). Remember to tell me your exam board and what you're struggling with.
I look forward to meeting you!
