About me

I have always been interested by how and why things work, and this has led me to where I am now. I am in my second year of an integrated master’s in physics at Imperial College London, having achieved a high 2:1 (0.6% below first class) in my first year, but I also loved chemistry and design & technology at A level and GCSE.

Away from academia I love music, art, sports, and first aid; I have been DJing and producing music for over three years, I love making things of all kinds, I rock climb, go to the gym, box, and play ice hockey. I am also the current events manager and an operational first aider for my university’s St John Ambulance Service unit – Imperial LINKS. Away from home I love surfing, snowboarding, and attending concerts and festivals.

Exams can be incredibly daunting, especially when you get to the end of a course and realise just how much of it you don’t remember. Throughout my GCSEs, A levels and university applications I found that I always felt exactly like this up until a tipping point. After this tipping point, I was able to answer questions asked of me or at least make a good educated guess. It changed the idea of exams from the end of the world to ‘I guess these aren’t too bad’. My aim is to chase away that feeling of helplessness as soon as it shows up, and to be a reliable and approachable source of course-related information whilst keeping lessons interesting.

About my sessions

Generally, the structure of my lesson depends on what the student has been doing in school. I will begin by having a quick discussion about what they have covered recently, and I will discuss what they do/do not understand about the content. If they are not completely confident in everything, I will go through it with them to ensure they understand it. After this I will go through practice questions and discuss examples.

If they are not completely confident in everything, I will go through it with them to ensure they understand it. After this I will go through practice questions and discuss examples.

Whilst I do have a lesson plan, I don’t always adhere to it completely. I believe that sometimes it is more beneficial for the student to decide where the lesson goes, especially if they have questions about a specific topic. I can also provide revision resources if needed.

I like to measure progress mostly by how the lesson goes, but recent test scores are also useful when gauging progress. Whilst test scores are important, I believe that it is more important to instill confidence and curiosity in students so that they can revise themselves.
