About me

Academically I’m a lover of organisation and satisfying revision. Since I was young, I set myself the goal of going to Oxford and I achieved that goal through dedication and careful organisation of my studies. I am a fan of laminating week/day structures so they can be written on in whiteboard pen to allow for the flexibility that a day of study inevitably needs. Since I was young, I set myself the goal of going to Oxford and I achieved that goal through dedication and careful organisation of my studies. I am a fan of laminating week/day structures so they can be written on in whiteboard pen to allow for the flexibility that a day of study inevitably needs. I have always loved studying a wide variety of subjects, doing a variety at GCSE and A-level - history is the perfect subject to continue studying in such a multi-faceted way. As part of my history degree I have studied anthropology and economics along with history of medicine. History is, for me, a deep interest with how the present is reflective or contrasting to the past and how thought and culture have developed in changing sociological and economic contexts. With regards to Tutoring, I think it’s really important for students to figure out how they learn and revise best; I’d be able to suggest revision techniques as well as specific ideas for subject revision. I encourage students to organise their time, planning in rest and breaks into their schedule in order to avoid both procrastination and burn out (as much as possible!). Moving revision past reading over notes is beneficial. Active revision requires building revision materials that can then be applied to exam questions that test how you can manipulate that knowledge you have learnt.

About my sessions

The structure of sessions is pretty flexible, depending on the needs of my student. I like to help students get to know how they learn best and suggest revision/learning techniques that might be most effective for them. My sessions are student led, so I appreciate students letting me know what aspect of their subject they are struggling with most before the session so that I can tailor the session around that.

With regards to Spanish GCSE I am more than happy to do speaking practice along with writing and grammar exercises.

Quick ways to learn historical knowledge and structures into which that knowledge can be applied in response to an exam question!
