About me

I am a second year student of History and Spanish and I absolutely love my subjects. Doing joint honours keeps my mind busy and adept at switching skills, and means I still understand the stresses of balancing more than one discipline which students have at A-Level and especially at GCSE. I am a second year student of History and Spanish and I absolutely love my subjects. Doing joint honours keeps my mind busy and adept at switching skills, and means I still understand the stresses of balancing more than one discipline which students have at A-Level and especially at GCSE. I love spotting links and connections; one of the reasons I enjoy tutoring is helping students see these links too, whether it be between subjects, topics or even just within one question we are tackling together. I have years of experience tutoring students from Year 7 to A-Level in both History and Spanish. For me, the most fascinating part of history is constructing your argument for an essay, so even though this may seem daunting to students preparing for an exam, I encourage my students to (try!) and see the fun in it. History can be a really creative subject, and piecing together the missing links of how the past unfolded is a great exercise in logical thinking and exam preparation. In Spanish, my primary love is the language. I really enjoy (believe it or not!) grammar exercises so helping students with grammatical questions is a joy. I have also become engrossed in Spanish culture and literature and love helping students uncover their hidden love of literature too. I understand how frustrating language learning can be, let alone trying to understand a complicated Spanish text, but the key is to break it down bit by bit and you will be amazed over time how simple it becomes.

About my sessions

The most important thing for me is that these sessions are interactive, so what I find works best is that students come prepared with questions and then I can prepare different ways to help us solve them together. The most important thing for me is that these sessions are interactive, so what I find works best is that students come prepared with questions and then I can prepare different ways to help us solve them together. I am happy to mark work students submit to me and offer feedback which can help us chart a course together in order to get the most out of the sessions. I always found the best teachers at first explained the material in multiple different ways until we found the best way that worked for us, and this is the approach I bring to my tutoring. I welcome discussion and find that working together on questions and problems leads to the most fruitful outcome, so I aim to guide rather than narrate or dictate an approach. I know that preparing for exams can take the enjoyment away from a subject, especially one you are finding difficult, so I try to inject some much-needed fun and enthusiasm back into exam preparation! I am extremely passionate about my subjects and so I aim to share this with my students to find what they enjoy, as I believe if you can find a route into enjoying what you are studying, you are more likely to succeed. I think that it is vital for students to set their own goals, and I look forward to helping them achieve them which I have every confidence we can together.

Evie was such great help in various topics of History, especially last minute with my exam being the following week. She communicates extremely well, and I was able to walk into my exam feeling a lot more confident thanks to her.
