About me

Hi there! My name is Lucy and I am a 1st year Politics, International Studies and French student at the University of Warwick. I took both A-Level and GCSE French, and these are the exams I want to help you ace! I am also a Social Secretary for my University's Politics Society, which means I'm in charge of running socials from bowling to nights at the Students Union. As well as this, I love music, BBC dramas and French film.

I took both A-Level and GCSE French, and these are the exams I want to help you ace! I am also a Social Secretary for my University's Politics Society, which means I'm in charge of running socials from bowling to nights at the Students Union. As well as this, I love music, BBC dramas and French film.

I know myself, language exams can be daunting (especially when the grade is important for getting to Uni!), but that is exactly why I am here to help you! I want to help you improve your grade, but also find your love for the subject - as that is what made me want to pursue French at a higher level! I will base our sessions on your personal areas for improvement, but the learning techniques which I find the most effective to employ are regular translations together, structuring exam questions together, and debates/discussions in French. These are the techniques which helped me to get to the level I am at now, and the techniques which developed my passion for the subject.

I hope to hear from you soon!

About my sessions

I will tackle a different grammar aspect each week which we will go through together to clarify your understanding. From there, we will do a translation/fill in the blank which will be based on you using this skill to consolidate your understanding. I will set you some homework on the grammar skill we have gone over to further consolidate your learning and we will revisit this at the start of each week.

From there, we will do a translation/fill in the blank which will be based on you using this skill to consolidate your understanding. I will set you some homework on the grammar skill we have gone over to further consolidate your learning and we will revisit this at the start of each week.

For writing, I will look to focus on the exam. This will be based on your personal areas of improvement; for example, if you find it harder to plan, we will look at ways to pull out key words from the questions to make this easier for you. If, at A-Level, you are struggling with thematic essays, we can run through plans on your text together and brainstorm these ideas.

For the oral aspect of the session, I really believe it is easier to talk about something which you like/have an opinion on! At least this was the case for me! So, it is for this aspect of the tutoring that I will ask you to do some preparation. Whether we are doing a mock debate on a subject, or a normal oral-exam layout, I will ask you each week to research the topic in reference to French culture and come up with your opinion.
