About me

Hi! My name is Noor and I am a 19 year old undergraduate law student at the University of Warwick. The reason why I have chosen to pursue law is because I am hopeful that with the knowledge that I will acquire during this degree, I will then be able to help people first hand. I also find that it is an intellectually challenging course which pushes me out of my comfort zone. The reason why I have chosen to pursue law is because I am hopeful that with the knowledge that I will acquire during this degree, I will then be able to help people first hand. I also find that it is an intellectually challenging course which pushes me out of my comfort zone. Having taken my IGCSEs and IB in Portugal and then coming abroad to study at a UK university leaves me with a lot of tips when it comes to the whole process of applying to university, especially in regards to Law as I also took the LNAT (Law School entrance exam). Furthermore, my experience in taking exams at school and now at university have taught me a lot about time management and planning considering I have learned to write various long answers in a restricted period of time (exam technique). The fact that my focus subjects (Eg. History and English) are very essay based has also helped me learn about coherence and clarity in writing which is something I could help prospective students improve! Finally, a big hobby I have is being part of the UNICEF on Campus society which allows me to pursue my passion for humanitarian aid alongside my degree!

About my sessions

In regards to my tutoring style, my first priority is having a conversation with the student to establish what her/his goals are, what they intend to get out of the session and any doubts or questions they have. Once I have this background information I will prepare the lessons in advance. If the class is based on going through an essay then I will make in text annotations and highlights so that I can then go over this with the student. This is because I believe that one of the best learning...

This is because I believe that one of the best learning techniques is through visual aid which then allows for a structured explanation. If the class is based on doubts the student has on a particular topic then I will draw diagrams/mind maps or create an A4 side with consolidated notes. This is what worked the best for me when preparing for my school exams as it simplifies the topic by breaking it down. Flashcards with questions and answers can then be used to measure progress, and highlight which areas the student has to focus on when revising. In this way I can help my students improve, and, if this does not work, then I will make sure to find an alternative route to clarify the issue in question. Finally I think what is most important when encouraging learning is ensuring that student's feel comfortable around their teacher in order to ask questions and be honest about where they stand, and that is what I will aim to establish.
