Hello, my name is Sean and I’m a Masters' student at the University of Warwick's Renaissance Centre.
I am a happy and friendly person, knowing the importance of balancing seriousness and humour in tutoring. I have a keen interest in pursuing a career in teaching and through online tutoring experience (and offline classroom experience) I have refined my teaching style to help students maximise how much they learn.
History is undeniably my strongest area and where most of my love is too. I specialise in European history, but I am excited to help students in both improving their understanding of their course’s content even in other areast. Also, I can assist them in developing their structure when answering exam questions to ensure they maximise their result; this can often be the difference between the grade a student wants and the one they receive.
I also tutor in Economics, which I thoroughly enjoyed studying at A level to the extent that I received an A*. I am strong in all fields of A level economics, especially macroeconomics, which I received 100 on for both the AS level and A level final exams.
Maths continues to draw me in, as at school I enjoyed (and still do enjoy) a good mental challenge through the logical methods and formula employed that can often seem intimidating to students. I intend to break these down for students to help them grasp the subject confidently, which is not as easily achieved when in a large, sometimes disruptive, classroom.
I do offer additionally sessions on personal statement mentoring, assisting students in being able to convey the right message to the institutions they are applying for, showing off through a good structure their natural brilliance.
I did struggle at points when studying these subjects and from learning to overcome my personal difficulties with these topics, I am in a great position to pass on my experience to help students triumph over their own worries in their studies. I really want to see students achieve their potential and will work hard with any student to help them achieve this.
