About me

I am a French native speaker. During my childhood I have traveled quite a lot meaning that I am perfectly bilingual in French and English. Because I traveled, Maths has always been the "language" I recognized in each country. But what makes me really passionate about Mathematics is the beauty and elegance behind it, which I try to show during my lessons. I have previously tutored on Tutortap and was part of the Schools programme and this year as well on Mytutor. On this program, I teach mainly GCSE science. On top of that, I have been volunteering at a local sixth form for 2 years now. This is a project organised by my University where I taught French and Maths. I really enjoy tutoring and watching my tutees improve over time. The best feeling is when students tell me after a lesson how well they did on a test or in class now that they have understood everything.

About my sessions

I like to keep lessons quite casual and adapt to the needs of the student. For example, if there is a topic the tutee hasn’t understood, we may spend a whole hour going over it if necessary. Or if the tutee has already understood the whole topic and just needs to build up confidence we may do a lot of examples and exercises. In the case where I have to teach material and not only consolidate learning. I like to organise the material as clearly as possible and to show the links between each part. I believe an organised lesson gives an organised mind.

Questions Quentin has answered

How can I improve my French listening skills and vocabulary ?

For me, the best way to improve your French listening skills and vocabulary is to engage with an activity in French. For example try listening to the radio and picking out a few words you may know to understand what they are talking about. Or watch a film you know in French to try and assimilate the meaning of new words.
