Degree: Mechanical Engineering (Masters) - Cardiff University
I am a first year Mechanical Engineering student at Cardiff University. Though I’ve only just began my course, I’ve had a major interest in engineering and science since I was very young, always being hands on and more recently I have branched off into developing my own small inventions to keep myself busy and because I love what I study.
I have had various tutoring jobs previously, working for a local tutoring centre back in my home town for over a year, being a member of a mentoring scheme through years 11 to 12, as well as having some private customers whom I tutored on occasion. I’ve realised how I love much I enjoy teaching, since I get to share my knowledge onto someone who is keen to learn new things.
I take my time making sure the student is happy to move on with a topic so that they leave satisfied that they have learnt something and the session was worthwhile.
The best way to learn is to practise, so my sessions will consist of the main body where I’ve introduced a new topic, or if the student had already briefly covered a topic and required some help then my strategy would be to work with them through exam questions.
This would give the challenge that they require but the support that they need to get through the question and be ready to take on harder questions on their own. I hope to make the sessions enjoyable, using diagrams and relatable analogies to keep the student interested and keen.
I am keen to liaise with parents on how they would like me to approach the sessions also, since I have a large bank of resources from my schooling history and from my previous tutoring roles, and wish to make use of them in the best suited way for the student.
I hope that my enthusiasm and positivity will radiate onto the student and that they can leave feeling satisfied with their progress.

Solve 10x - 7 = 5x + 3, to find the value of x
x = 0.5
First you must rearrange the equation so that all the like terms are on the same side:
10x - 5x = 3 +7
5x = 10
Then to find x, divide 5 by 10
x = 0.5see more
