About me

I am a fluent speaker of Spanish, French, and Italian and have been tutoring people in these languages for years now. I have a lot of experience teaching people of all ages languages from scratch, exam (GCSE, and A level) preparation and practice (my students always achieve at least one grade higher than their teacher's predictions if not more), language refresher courses, and business tuition. I have spoken these languages for the majority of my life and am now completely fluent and proficient. I have a full 5* rating on this website, and from previous clients elsewhere. I have a real passion for languages, being fully fluent in 5, and learning my 6th, and love to spread the joy and gift of language with others. I am also able to advise students on how to make difficult decisions regarding college and university, having already gone through those difficult decisions myself and guide them through writing a professional and concise personal statement guaranteed to 'wow' their university choices.

About my sessions

My tutorials first and foremost are individual. I do not have one set structure in which I teach, rather I teach people according to the way that they learn best. In school, often a teacher will impose one way of learning, and more likely than not that method will be appropriate for some, but not for all. Instead, I take time to get to know my student individually so that I am able to provide the best quality tuition, in a way that makes them smile and enjoy learning. Learning shouldn't be a hassle, it shouldn't cause a 'do I really have to do this' feeling, it should be exciting and interesting, not a drag! I emphasise that there is never any stress in our lessons, like there can be in school. Stress does not equal a healthy learning environment! My lessons still maintain a very well structured outline with specific essential material being taught in order to achieve results, the way it is delivered is down to the way you like to learn !

Questions Tom has answered

How do you form the imperfect tense?

With AR verbs, first take off the AR from your infinitive to get the stem of the verb, then add the imperfect endings as follows:

Yo .....aba

Tú .....abas

él/ella/usted .....aba

Nosotros ábamos

Vosotros abais

Ellos/as/ustedes aban

For ER & IR verbs, remove the infinitve ending to reveal the stem, and then add:

Yo .....ía

Tú .....ía

él/ella/usted .....ía

Nosotros ....íamos

Vosotros ....íais

Ellos/as/ustedes .....ían
