My name is Izzy Soper and I'm currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Durham University.
I've studies a diverse range of subjects throughout my A Levels and continue to maintain an interest in various academic areas. This means that I understand how some subjects need to be explained in very different ways to be understood fully, and this fuller understanding leads to a better quality of learning. It also means that, unlike many students who have studied pure sciences since GCSE, I have a comprehensive knowledge of answering essay questions in the sciences which has been strenghtened by my experience in the Humanities subjects, as well as gaining analytical skills and the ability to be concise and objective in my essays, thanks to the Sciences. This means I can give a broader range of teaching styles, and advice to fit students who learn in all different ways, and struggle in a range of areas.
Having recently left compulsory schooling I can empathise with the stress exams give you, and even with the most capable students just a bit of extra help and consolidation with certain subjects can give anyone that extra bit of confidence which will allow them to achieve.
My tutoring style is flexible; I can provide whatever type of learning style you need, be it youtube videos I feel assist in understanding certain areas that I will tutor you in, diagrams, verbal explanations or even clear and concise summary points to recap anything you aren't clear on. I believe in tailoring the tutor style to whatever your learning style, as a student, is, be it through auditory, visual or hands on lessons.
I studied the three sciences separately at GCSE with the AQA exam board, as well as English Literature and Language, both with AQA also. My A Level subjects included Early Modern History (to AS level), Biology, Psychology and English Literature and I achieved AAA*A. I also achieved an A* in my Extended Project Qualification Dissertation which means I am well practiced in exam style, research and referencing.
I participated in an English tutor scheme with my Sixform College where I offered essay and study advice to students in the lower sixth, which gave me experience in advising in particular areas of concern, particularly on structure and form. I can focus broadly on the subject area you are struggling with, or assist with any specific points you feel you are most concerned about. It's entirely up to you!
If you're interested in getting some help in your subjects, or would like any more information don't hesitate to contact me, or book a brief meet the tutor session where we can discuss what you personally would like to gain from tutoring, and you can see whether it's right for you.
I hope to meet you soon!
