About me

I’ve recently finished a BA in History - I love history and almost every subject that can relate to it, like Latin. I even took Latin as an optional extra at Sixth Form and University in addition to my History studies. I am, primarily, a medieval historian, although I have studied and enjoyed many modern topics, too. But why history? I even took Latin as an optional extra at Sixth Form and University in addition to my History studies. I am, primarily, a medieval historian, although I have studied and enjoyed many modern topics, too. But why history? I’ve always been passionate about history; it was always one of my favourite classes in school and I knew fairly early on that I wanted to pursue the subject at university. Three years later, and I’ve done it!

My aim is to help other people enjoy history and Latin as much as I do – history should not be a tedious subject; I want to help people learn and improve their historical skills by showing them the fun side of history. Latin can seem a little scary, but it really isn’t. I want people to feel comfortable in my sessions and feel that they can ask any questions. Every question is a learning opportunity that will help you improve.

About my sessions

I like to use a lot of colour – I love colour-coding notes, and I find this is a very good way to approach learning, particularly with regards to Latin. Colour-coding the different aspects of a sentence in Latin is very helpful, especially when all the complicated parts of Latin structure get a little overwhelming.

Practice makes perfect, and so I will do quite a lot of exam question practice. Being able to get used to all the techniques that you will use in an exam and discovering whic...

Being able to get used to all the techniques that you will use in an exam and discovering which ones work the best for you is crucial to getting you through those exams. An exam isn’t quite as scary if you have practiced and nailed the right technique. Learning the content is, obviously, important, but how you approach questions and your exam method form a large part of the exam. Getting in loads of practice on different types of questions means you will be prepared for any situation.

We will also set some clear targets for your improvement, so you can measure your progress and focus on the aspects that need the most improvement. Obviously, they will be targets that will challenge you, but also ones you will feel comfortable with. I’m here to help you improve with attainable goals, not completely unrealistic expectations.
