About me

Hi there! To tell you a bit more about myself, I am a third year medical student (MBChB) at the University of Birmingham. I am a competent, organised, approachable and enthusiastic individual who is keen to help GCSE and A-level students to achieve the grades they desire. I am a competent, organised, approachable and enthusiastic individual who is keen to help GCSE and A-level students to achieve the grades they desire. I am also keen to help prospective medical students with their application to medical school and provide advice regarding the preparation involved. I am really passionate about medicine and I feel I could be of real use as I have learnt lots of really helpful hints and tips that I would be very happy to share.

I have a strong academic record. I achieved 10 A*s and 1 A at GCSE and A*AA at A level. Having recently completed these qualifications, I believe I am ideally placed to tutor students through these qualifications. I am currently placed in the top 10% of the cohort in my degree.

I love to teach and already have experience in this area. In the past, I have tutored students of a variety of ages at my secondary school. Currently, I am a teacher on the Basic Life Support (BLS) programme at the University of Birmingham.

This has enabled me to develop a wide range of teaching styles, so I can adapt my teaching methods to suit a variety of learning styles.

In terms of extra-curricular activities, I am a keen tennis and netball player and have undertaken various voluntary roles for various charities.

About my sessions

Before the session, I ask students about what they are looking to achieve from the session and what their goals are, for example, what topics they would like to cover. This enables me to prepare fully for the lesson by gathering the correct materials, in order for the student to get the most out of the session. At the end of the session I will summarise the key points and discuss preparation the student can do for the next tutorial. I also encourage students to be keen and inquisitive learner...

I also encourage students to be keen and inquisitive learners, as I believe that is the key to success in a subject.

My teaching methods can be adapted to suit the needs of any student so students can try the different methods and see what they prefer. I am very good at breaking down topics into simpler terms and key points that are easy to remember. I find mnemonics, diagrams and drawings are a good way to aid memory so I use these too. I can also provide good advice on revision strategies.

Students can check their progress with their learning and what they think they need further help with, as I make sure to test their application of knowledge by going through exam questions with them or setting quizzes that they can do.

Most importantly, I aim to instill students' confidence in their own ability and to not be afraid to attempt questions, as they know I will always be here to help if they are stuck.
