Degree: English (Bachelors) - Exeter University
Hello, my name is Ellie.
I am currently a third year English student at the University of Exeter.
I have always had a huge passion for all things literature as well having a keen interest in teaching and helping to motivate others with their work.
I have always tried to be pro-active in my studies and throughout GCSE and A-Level I gathered revision source for my peers and helped arrange revision study sessions for upcoming essay deadlines and exams. Whilst I was at school I also arranged by myself to work at two other schools (both primary) to help children with their reading and writing skills. Also during my time in Sixth Form I helped provide essay feedback and support for exams to younger students.
Since leaving school and attending University I have remained proactiving in my passion for teaching and learning. I am currently the third year English representative for the Student Staff Liason Committe - this means that I am a voice for my subject course and communicate their issues in order to influence University policies and procedures. I overlook developments in subject modules and use my passion for literature to improve my University's teaching.
Whilst at University I am also a bank staff worker at both a Nursery and Out of School Club. This enables me to engage with children from 6 months old to 16 years old. I am very aware of how to attend to children of different requirements and I am confident in supporting children and creating a fun and exciting atmosphere.
At University I am usually engaging with at least 2 texts per week; I have a wide knowledge of literature and would be able to work hard to prepare for your child's tuition, creating a detailed lesson plan of the text whilst also teaching in a way that is relaxed, fun, and engaging. Being a student myself and with my experience in tutoring and with children, I understand how to create an environment that is calm and enjoyable, but also supportive, helpful and interesting.
I am very flexible with hours due to my low contact hours during University time. As well as helping prepare for upcoming exams I can also provide feedback on:
- Previous Exam feedback
- Personal Statements
- Anything else that you require please do not hesitate to contact me - I am quick to respond to queries and through My Tutor Web you can easily set up a free meet the tutor session to discuss times, dates, texts, and any other requests. I look forward to hearing from you!
