About me

Hello! I have just finished my first year studying Medicine at University. I chose Medicine as I have always been interested in science, am enthusiastic about studying a subject that is constantly changing with new and upcoming research and am passionate about working with people by helping them to overcome their personal challenges. Hello! I have just finished my first year studying Medicine at University. I chose Medicine as I have always been interested in science, am enthusiastic about studying a subject that is constantly changing with new and upcoming research and am passionate about working with people by helping them to overcome their personal challenges. At this stage I am interested in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics and Global Health. Outside of my studies I enjoy playing netball for my university, singing in an a cappella group, cooking and spending time with family and friends. I vividly remember sitting both GCSEs and A-Levels as well as applying for university and fully appreciate it can be a busy and stressful time with an element of uncertainty. Looking back on my personal experiences I have definitely learnt a lot about what worked and what didn't. I hope to use my own experiences to help guide students in a positive and beneficial way.

We all learn in different ways - some like mind maps, diagrams and lists, some enjoy flashcards and short summaries whilst others prefer practice questions, essay planning and discussion. Therefore, I aim to tailor my tutorials to each student to cater for their individual learning needs. I think it is important that tutorials have a clear structure (based around a topic area or exam question) but at the same time I would like there to be flexibility to give students the opportunity to ask questions throughout and engage with the material if they are unsure. Prior to each tutorial, I will make sure to discuss with each student any particular areas they are struggling with and what they want to achieve. This way I will have time to prepare material, questions and resources for them to use both during and after the tutorial to help them progress. Reviewing information regularly is important for retaining it. Therefore, I will aim to summarise the tutorial during the last 5 minutes of the session and briefly review the material at the start of the next tutorial to check that students are still happy with what they have previously learnt and give them the chance to ask more questions if they are still unsure. Most importantly, I hope to deliver each tutorial in a fun and engaging way with enthusiasm to help students improve in their academics and confidence so that they can go into their exams feeling positive and prepared.
