I am a very friendly and approachable tutor. I can offer tutorials to meet the understanding and level of learning for different students needs (from GCSE to LLM/Postgraduate). I create a teaching environment where students feel comfortable to ask me any questions (topic related!) or go over issues they may not understand straight away. I also try to make tutorials interesting and rewarding, and use visual aids and practical examples to help along the way.
Background and TeachingExperience:
I am currently a PhD student (specialising in Corporate Governance) and part-time teacher a Durham University's School of Law. I was successful in a competitive application process applying for a Durham Law School Scholarship (total award value of £29700). Prior to undertaking my PhD in 2013 I obtained my masters degree, with Distinction, also at Durham and completed the LLB (Solicitors Exempting) degree at Northumbria University (Mark 68%).
I teach tutorials in Land Law and Company Law to undergraduates at Durham University in their second and third years. I am required to teach to an exceptionally high standard and undergo both internal and external reviews. I also mark formative and summative assignments, and have undergone training at Durham to include teaching in small groups and assessment in the social sciences.
Whilst I currently teach two modules, due to my educational background I have a sound understanding of all core foundation modules of a standard English law degree and other more specialised areas such as medical law, family law, intellectual property, corporate law and human rights.
