About me

Hi all, I'm Jacob! I am a Law student currently studying at the London School of Economics & Political Science and I am very keen to continue working as a tutor. I also work for 'Explore Learning' so I have had experience and training in tutoring (English & Maths) which I hope I can now use to help some of you get through A-Level Law or GCSE History, Music, Maths or Physics (I achieved 3 A* and 2 A grades at A-level and 9 A* and 2 A grades at GCSE).

I genuinely have a passion for education and I have found that tutoring has been a really rewarding experience for me (and I hope for my students!) starting work with MyTutor is exciting because I will be able to continue this but hopefully with even more people from around the country.

Please do not hesitate to set up an initial 'get-to-know you' session with me and I can explain exactly what I would want to do to improve your grades and I can also answer every and any questions you may have for me!

About my sessions

I can, and of course will, tailor each session depending on what the students are looking to achieve. However, my approach towards exams is very simple and I hope that I can really enforce this ideology in all of my students. I can, and of course will, tailor each session depending on what the students are looking to achieve. However, my approach towards exams is very simple and I hope that I can really enforce this ideology in all of my students. My GCSE and A-Level thinking is simple, the exam board can only ask you questions that are within the specification and what this means, quite simply, is that students should print out the specification, match each aspect with past paper questions and learn the specification. This is not always the most exciting way to prepare for exams but I can promise you that it is the best way to squeeze every mark out of your exam paper. My lessons will, therefore, consist of two things. (1) We will go through the exam board's specification to make sure that you understand every facet of what they will ask and then (2) I will match each aspect of the specification with some easy and some not-so-easy past exam questions. We can then practise these until you are sick to death of the same old questions (exam boards love to recycle old material) and can complete past papers with your eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back!

There is only one way to measure progress and that is 'did you get more marks in a past paper question this week than last week?'. My philosophy is simple: learning the spec. = more marks = better grades

Fabulous teacher who makes the impossible, possible. Really engaging and fun, yet effective. Will keep with him as long as he'll have us as the progress and enthusiasm with my daughter has been amazing.
