About me

Physics and Maths can be daunting but, when you find solutions to the questions you've been struggling on, the satisfaction is worth the effort; with my help you can get that extra push to finding those solutions.

I studied GCSEs through to A Level at school, which included earning top grades in maths and physics, I also took the Oxford PAT as part of my application for their physics course.

I studied GCSEs through to A Level at school, which included earning top grades in maths and physics, I also took the Oxford PAT as part of my application for their physics course.

At home I coach swimming for my local club which uniquely allows me to see how my methods help others improve, while at Durham I'm part of the university-level swim team in order to keep active and meet new people. I am a keen science fiction and fantasy enthusiast, reading books in those genres among others. I'm part of various societies such as my college's games society, as well as the new Founding President of my University's Doctor Who Society.

Having achieved a 1st in first year, I have a strong footing in finding the best ways to suit learning. I will be able to identify areas in a student's study that can be improved and see which methods work best for them. In the past I have successfully helped others improve their skills in subjects like maths with positive results, so I will be reapplying this in tutoring to help students achieve their potential. Working through example and past paper questions, as well as personally requested ones, along with a mark scheme will be one way I help understanding.

In Maths, I benefited hugely from being able to go through past papers to find questions on topics I've recently revised and attempting them. This way if I came across a type of question I couldn't answer I would go back through notes or other worked through examples to learn that question and then return to attempting it.

With Physics it's useful to go through a past paper with open book and even mark scheme if necessary to get the best model answers possible, and then returning to the same paper two weeks later, without any help that time around, in order to best memorise solutions to types of question.

He is really good at explaining things and he knows his topics well. He also makes notes and prepares before the lesson. I find him really useful.
