About me

Hello! I am a first year GEM (Graduate Entry Medicine) student at Nottingham University, and I graduated from Bristol with a 2:1 in experimental psychology. With 3 As at A Level and an A* in my EPQ, I am someone who loves attention to detail and learning new things.

Hello! I am a first year GEM (Graduate Entry Medicine) student at Nottingham University, and I graduated from Bristol with a 2:1 in experimental psychology. With 3 As at A Level and an A* in my EPQ, I am someone who loves attention to detail and learning new things.

I taught myself all of the science, maths and philosphy for my GEM entrance exam (the GAMSAT), and was thrilled to score highly at 69. From this undertaking, I know only too well how an explanation sometimes has to be approached from many different angles to make sense, and how different people learn best from different techniques. Some people enjoy mnemonics, whilst others prefer example questions, timed practice, visual aids, or being guided to useful videos or online resources.

I am a big believer in hard work and good technique, and love working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I have had a great variety of experiences a healthcare assistant, working with adults with Autism, and delivering mental health presentations for local schools and Scouts groups. I also play the clarinet and the piano in my spare time, and love meeting new people! As a current student myself, I am also very understanding of how exams, difficult content and high workload can have a serious impact upon people's general well-being; I am very sensitive to this, and am always able to provide advice and reassurance based on my own experiences.

About my sessions

I plan my online lessons based around the a few key things to ensure the session is fully-packed and worthwhile.

I take into account the specific goals of the student, the mark scheme, and the progress the student has made so far. For example, if preparing for an English Literature A Level exam, I would want to know what examination board the student is working to (so I can base my teaching around the mark scheme), what their current level of attainment and confidence is, what specific texts are being examined, and what the key areas of difficulty are the student is having.

I would agree upon a specific focus for the lesson, and then recommend structured tasks to do after the session to ensure the student really gains value from what we have discussed. I would also help the student by providing a good structure for the answers, or explaining what techniques to use to gain the highest possible exam scores. In this way, I am very focused on helping students work and revise in a very targeted way, particularly when time is of the essence.

If you are looking for a tutor who is encouraging, motivating and super friendly, Rose is that person! I have really enjoyed how she simplifies certain concepts and thus boosts your confidence in them. I only wish I had found her sooner. Thank you Rose for all of your support and advice, and for sharing such helpful resources to use outside of the lessons too! Highly recommend.

Now known to me a “Super Rose!”, Rose is a fabulous tutor. She explains really complex theory in simple terms and her resources are high quality and directly linked to the syllabus. Rose is extremely supportive and encouraging and I really look forward to our lessons every week.
