About me

When learning Physics, Maths or Chemistry, what is often required to truly grasp and excel at these subjects is a 'feeling' for them, that only comes with practice and discussion about the subject with others. In my tutorials, I would try to instil such confidence, so that my students can look at a problem, and instantly see how it could be approached appropriately. This can be done through the use of analogies, doing and discussing questions, and building up topics from the initial facts to their consequences. This can include going outside the official curriculum, but often doing so allows for a deeper understanding of the topic in question. Mathematical skills are also especially important at higher levels in the sciences, and I would also emphasise these when tutoring. In order to implement this, I will draw on the large array of scientific and mathematical knowledge I have gained over my years in education, and present it in a way understandable and tailored to the student in question.

I have previous experience with tutoring a number or students in both maths and physics, helping one in particular, who had a long absence from school, to obtain an A in their Physics GCSE. In addition, I have experience tutoring students at guitar, meaning I have plenty of experience in teaching one-to-one. I have also been successful in speaking competitions within the Physics department at university, demonstrating my ability to get my point across clearly.

I studied the AQA syllabi for Chemistry A-level and Double Science GCSE, the Edexcel syllabi for Maths/Further Maths A-level and Maths GCSE, and the OCR B (Advancing Physics) syllabus for Physics A-level. In all of these, I achieved A* grades.

In terms of modules for A-level Mathematics, I have experience with all Mechanics modules, S1 and D1, and would be happy to teach any of these.

Availability: I am usually available from 1 on weekdays and then all day on weekends, although this can vary a little. In general, I would be very happy to move around tutorial timings to get the time that best suits both of us. If you have questions, please contact me.

I look forward to working with you!
