About me

Studying Medicine myself means that I went through a very rigorous process, and I am keen to share my advice and provide knowledge to those who wish to follow in my footsteps. I completed both the UCAT and BMAT examinations and had the opportunity to experience both MMI and panel interviews. Therefore, I am confident in giving tailored advice to medical student applicants and will practise interview scenarios, help with UCAT and BMAT questions and assist in personal statement checking. At school I excelled in Maths and Science, taking these for my A-levels. I enjoy the detail in the subjects but also their application, especially towards solving problems which is one of the main reasons I chose to study medicine. I am keen to provide a helping hand in these subjects – from personal experience I know how frustrating it is to be puzzled on a question! During my first year of A-levels I also completed an Extended Project Qualification and through this independent research study I developed many useful skills having to read, understand and quote leading research papers and analyse different scientific sources. Maths, Biology and Chemistry also run through my degree and hence, with the specialist knowledge I have, I am equipped to fully explain the answers to questions and hopefully extend my students’ knowledge whilst sparking an interest.

About my sessions

When approaching my tutor sessions, my aim is to tailor them to each student’s needs as I understand that everyone learns differently. I also feel that different subjects and levels require different teaching techniques. When approaching my tutor sessions, my aim is to tailor them to each student’s needs as I understand that everyone learns differently. I also feel that different subjects and levels require different teaching techniques. Regarding medical school admissions tests, I recommend that students complete practise questions in their own time and use the sessions to ask questions and go over any areas they find difficult. In reference to interviews, I feel that the best approach is practise and I can use the sessions for mock interviews as well as addressing any concerns and giving general advice in all areas of the application process. Regarding Maths, Science and subject specific knowledge I feel that the students’ needs drive the lesson. I am happy to go over specific questions and topics but can also teach new topics meaning that the student will feel prepared and ahead of the curriculum. With any areas found difficult, I will provide sample questions and practise resources which can be completed at home to further aid their learning. I also feel that developing the skill of revision is key in exam success but also important when it comes to further learning in life. Therefore, I use my sessions to tie in revision techniques and resources so that students feel confident to go over subjects themselves.I keep track of all sessions and progress, summarising the sessions, keeping track of any work given out and any upcoming school tests/exams.
